Statement: A boundary is something that indicates or fixes the limits or extents of lines, points, and planes. Lately, I have been wondering and asking about the word “boundary”. How are we defining “boundary” through physical, material, and spiritual terms? How are we setting the limits of our boundaries? Who and what influenced our decision to redefine the boundaries? How do media, friends, family, and culture cast our definition? In my works, I use common daily found objects. I also employ icons from the West as well as ritual objects such as gold and silver funeral paper from the Far East. These objects often provide the basic skeleton or blueprint for many of my works, often dictating a certain direction. I then manipulate and rearrange these objects, images, and texts as a puzzle. Once incorporated these images convey and express my questions about “boundaries” and how they reflect on my daily life. The mysterious objects are the witness and evidence of man, nature, and time. This project comes from my work within the limitations set by line, point, and plane. I am dancing and moving within this fine gradation – exploring the nebulous cloud from which thought, belief, and action spring. In this infinite gradient I find possibility of line, point, and plane converging into the present moment. Within any line there is an infinite number of points. I find every boundary holds inside boundless possibility.
